Taking a significant step forward in enhancing its sustainability initiatives and energy management capabilities, Elval has ordered a Viridis Energy & Sustainability Suite for its flat-rolled aluminium manufacturing plant based in Oinofyta, Greece. With the installation of two modules, Viridis Performance and Viridis Grids, Elval will be equipped to meet the ever-increasing demand for responsible and energy-efficient management in the aluminium industry. This initiative has been undertaken in partnership with SMS Group and serves as an example of the vision that both companies share for sustainable industrial practices.
The Viridis Performance software enables energy and utilities consumption modeling by considering contextual factors such as raw material and product characteristics, production levels, and quality standards. Viridis Grids will also help Elval precisely and autonomously forecast energy consumption based on the production plan, via automated machine learning resources. According to Athanasios Drakotos, Elval's electrical & electronic maintenance deputy director, the investment “will have a positive impact on our operations and support our path towards carbon footprint reduction."
