For the second consecutive year Symetal has achieved a rare distinction. ElvalHalcor’s aluminium foil rolling and converting processing subsidiary was awarded the EcoVadis platinum sustainability rating, the highest rating granted as part of the EcoVadis assessment. The award places Symetal to the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis. Symetal’s overall score of 80 out of 100 reflects the high quality of its sustainability management system and underscores its commitment to promoting transparency throughout the value chain.
EcoVadis is a global leader in business sustainability ratings, with a network of more than 130,000 rated companies. EcoVadis uses a robust assessment methodology to evaluate the quality of a company’s sustainability management system through its policies, practices and results in four key areas: the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The methodology is built on leading international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000.
In addition to having itself assessed, Symetal has established a strategic partnership with EcoVadis to evaluate its main suppliers on sustainability matters as part of its Responsible Sourcing Initiative.
“Receiving the EcoVadis platinum sustainability rating again motivates us to continue our efforts in social and environmental responsibility, creating value for all stakeholders,” said Fedon Paraskevopoulos, the foil rolling plant quality assurance and sustainability manager.
Gabriela Hatzistratidi, the foil converting plant quality assurance and sustainability manager, said: “Sustainability, environmental consciousness and social responsibility are core principles of Symetal. We continually strive to improve our performance in environmental protection, social responsibility and governance practices to promote a more sustainable future.”
